While we often tend to think of the Third Reich as a zone of lawlessness, the Nazi dictatorship and its policies of persecution rested on a legal foundation set in place and maintained by judges, lawyers, and civil servants trained in the law. This volume offers a concise and compelling account of how these intelligent and well-educated legal professionals lent their skills and knowledge to a system of oppression and domination. The chapters address why German lawyers and jurists were attracted to Nazism; how their support of the regime resulted from a combination of ideological conviction, careerist opportunism, and legalistic self-delusion; and whether they were held accountable for their Nazi-era actions after 1945. This book also examines the experiences of Jewish lawyers who fell victim to anti-Semitic measures. The volume will appeal to scholars, students, and other readers with an interest in Nazi Germany, the Holocaust, and the history of jurisprudence.

What legal system can call itself such when a lawyer who dared to really try to defend the accused was punished as a traitor?

Have you even read the book, sakstroy? You must be really fast to do so in three hours.

What reading system were you using?
That wasn't exactly true sakstroy. You want a better example? Try Sweden-Norway-Finland.

A full democratic system, with voter rights, and yet all 3 government had a systematic program to wipe out the Lapp people under the false claim they weren't Scandinavian.

This included the forced sterilisation of several hundred Lapp girls up to (& including) the 1970s.

All three governments refused to even accept that the Lapp were people until the early 1990s. All this, with the full democratic support of the voting population.

But of course, leftwing democracy doesn't have the horror imagery of a despot.
That's supposed to be *several hundred thousand Lapp girls*

Very strange logic of neo-nazis to try to defend that murderous and evil regime... So the fact that some democratic countries carried out evil policies against a minority exonerate the nazis from their crimes? Ridiculous assertion. Both should be condemned by all normal, law-abiding people.

It usually takes me about 2 to 3 hours to read any book, hardly any great feat, normal if you're used to reading and are not a semi-literate redneck who follows the text with his dirty finger...
